Ecuador adds five national holidays to 2026 calendar, including longest four‑day break

Officially announced by the Vice Ministry of Tourism, Ecuador’s 2026 calendar includes five remaining national holidays: Monday 10 August (Primer Grito de Independencia de Quito), Friday 9 October (Independencia de Guayaquil), Monday 2 November (Día de los Difuntos) and Tuesday 3 November (Independencia de Cuenca), and Monday 25 December (Navidad). The August holiday creates a three‑day weekend; the October holiday extends the weekend to three days; the November dates, together with the preceding weekend of 31 Oct‑1 Nov, produce a four‑day consecutive break—the longest holiday period left in the year; the December holiday also provides a weekend stretch.

Guayaquil will observe a local holiday on Friday 24 July for its foundation festivities. The schedule is intended to stimulate internal tourism, with the ministry noting that extended breaks historically generate higher visitor flows to the Sierra and Amazon regions.
