Ecuador and Colombia capture alleged gang leaders in anti‑crime raids

Ecuadorian armed forces seized Jean Carlos P., known as “Memo”, alleged head of the Los Tiguerones crime group, during a military operation in the Monte Sinaí area of Guayaquil. Authorities recovered marijuana, ammunition and other evidence, and transferred the suspect to judicial custody.

Colombian police and the Fiscalía captured Yorman Enrique, alias “Carlos Way”, identified as the chief of a sub‑structure of the Clan del Golfo operating in the Bajo Cauca region. The operation took place in the Jardín de Tamaná corregimiento of Cáceres, with coordination from Interpol and the Jungle command. He faces charges of aggravated criminal conspiracy and illegal coercion, linked to extortion, homicide and other crimes in the area.
