Ecuador and Venezuela launch school safety inspections amid disaster response

The Ecuadorian Ministry of Education, together with the National Risk Management Secretariat, will carry out a technical inspection of schools in Chimborazo province on 17 July. Teams will visit the Eloy Alfaro and Multitud educational units to evaluate structural conditions, identify hazards and recommend preventive measures for students and staff.

In Venezuela, Vice‑Minister Endes Palencia inspected the Juan Aranaga Basic School in La Guaira, where 351 families displaced by recent earthquakes are being sheltered. The visit, part of the "Venezuela Renace" plan, highlighted the provision of food and personal items to residents. Palencia also reviewed the El Salvador school, assessing its suitability for conversion into an additional temporary camp.
