Ecuador brings home remains of three citizens killed in Caracas earthquake

The bodies of three Ecuadorian citizens from a family originally from Portoviejo were repatriated to Ecuador after being cremated in Venezuela following the deadly Caracas earthquake. They arrived on the night of 3 July at Cotopaxi International Airport aboard an Ecuadorian Air Force C‑130 Hercules, part of a coordinated effort by Ecuador's Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility.

The same flight also returned 18 other Ecuadorian nationals, bringing the total number of Ecuadorians repatriated after the disaster to 36. In parallel, Ecuador dispatched a humanitarian aid flight delivering eight tonnes of water, food and essential supplies, while a private initiative with the Venezuelan‑Ecuadorian Chamber of Commerce and LATAM shipped an additional 50 tonnes of aid under the "Avión Solidario" program. The authorities continue to provide consular assistance to Ecuadorian residents in Venezuela. The earthquake, recorded on 24 June, left at least 2,645 dead and 12,666 injured in Venezuela.
