Ecuador business sector supports 2.98 million jobs
Recent data from Ecuador’s Statistical Registry of Companies (REEM) via INEC reveals that the country’s business sector comprises 1,204,276 companies. These entities support 2.98 million registered jobs and generate a total wage mass of USD 27,533 million.
These figures were highlighted during the “El orgullo que deja huella en Ecuador” event, organized by Corporación ¡Mucho mejor! Ecuador, MC Group, and the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL). The discussion emphasized the critical role of the private sector in driving economic growth and providing stability for households in a landscape where employment remains a primary socio-economic challenge.
In tandem with these economic metrics, the platform Ecuanomía has emerged to address the challenge of data interpretation in Ecuador. The initiative aims to transform complex datasets from public institutions and international organizations into accessible narratives, helping the public understand trends and realities that shape the nation.
