Ecuador cocoa supply surge drives down New York prices

Cocoa prices in New York fell significantly due to a surge in supply from Ecuador, the world's third-largest producer. December cocoa futures dropped 3.2% to $5,645 per ton. Ecuador's monthly exports rose to 102,000 tons in September, up from its usual 50,000 tons, as production increased to 650,000 tons for the cycle ending in September.

In contrast, coffee prices rose as El Niño concerns impact production. Arabica contracts for December increased by 3.66% to $3.0560 per pound. Potential weather delays in Brazil and droughts in Vietnam's Central Highlands are driving market caution regarding future harvests.
