Argentina health authorities strengthen medical networks and El Niño contingency plans

Health authorities in Argentina are implementing various strategic measures to strengthen medical services and preparedness. The Ministry of Public Health is developing a 2026/2027 contingency plan to address the potential impacts of the El Niño phenomenon, specifically focusing on rising temperatures and increased precipitation. This plan involves coordinating preventive measures and defining responses to anticipated increases in medical demand.

In Entre Ríos, the Ministry of Health is expanding its hospital network to maintain high-complexity care across four sanitary regions. This initiative includes reorganizing personnel and adding specialists in critical areas such as psychiatry, neurology, cardiology, and pediatrics to reduce the need for patient displacement.

Additionally, specialized training is being prioritized, as seen in the Second Neonatology Day for nursing, which focused on strengthening human resources in neonatal care to improve the treatment of newborns and mothers.
