Ecuador expands Free Digital Points network in Loja
Ecuador's Ministry of Infrastructure and Technology (MIT) has inaugurated four new Free Digital Points (PDG) in the Loja province. Located in the rural areas of Manú, El Paraíso de Celén, Santiago, and Cera, these centers were established with an investment of USD 76,000.
According to Vice Minister of Information and Communication Technologies Ricardo Gutiérrez, the initiative aims to strengthen connectivity and digital education. The new points are expected to directly benefit 9,157 people, providing free access to technological tools, digital services, and electronic government procedures to help reduce the digital divide.
With these additions, the Loja province now has a total of 76 Free Digital Points, which have collectively benefited 337,576 inhabitants. Nationally, the network has expanded to 1,012 points across all 24 provinces of Ecuador.
