Ecuador Extradites Colombian Suspect in 2015 Quito Home Invasion Murder
Ecuadorian authorities extradited Alejandro B. M., a Colombian national, to face charges for a 2015 robbery‑with‑homicide in Quito’s Cotocollao district. The suspect, wanted by Ecuador’s judiciary and listed on Interpol’s Red Notice, was located in Colombia after coordinated investigations by the National Interpol Offices in Quito and Bogotá. He was transferred on 2 July 2026 via Mariscal Sucre International Airport and placed in the Pichincha men’s detention center pending trial.
During the 3 January 2015 burglary, the homeowner, Héctor Germán L. L., attempted to defend his property and was fatally shot. Police say the suspect acted with four accomplices. The case highlights cross‑border police cooperation between Ecuador and Colombia under established international treaties.
