Ecuador government implements programs to eradicate child labor

The government of President Daniel Noboa, through the Ministry of Labor and Human Development (MTDH), is implementing policies to prevent and eradicate child labor across Ecuador. Currently, approximately 12,100 children, adolescents, and their families are benefiting from these national services.

In Tosagua, Manabí province, a community event titled ‘Pintando mis sueños’ (Painting my dreams) was held at the José Joaquín de Olmedo school. Organized in coordination with the Mary E. Richmond Foundation, the event included artistic activities, murals, and recreational games designed to sensitize the community and strengthen social responsibility regarding the rights of vulnerable groups.

Local beneficiaries reported that the intervention by MTDH promoters helped families recognize the risks associated with children working in activities such as recycling and selling bottles, allowing children to return to school and play.
