Ecuador increases medical supplies and coagulation factors for patients
The Ecuadorian government has launched initiatives to improve the supply of medicines and medical equipment across several provinces. As part of a national distribution exceeding USD 13 million, 67,133 units of coagulation factors and inhibitors will be delivered to various regions, including Chimborazo, Imbabura, Esmeraldas, and Guayas. This supply is specifically intended for patients with hemophilia A and B, Von Willebrand disease, and other blood clotting disorders.
Additionally, under the ‘Operation Health in Territory’ strategy directed by President Daniel Noboa, 16 health establishments in Pichincha, Guayas, Manabí, and Chimborazo are set to increase their supply of medicines and medical supplies by up to 20%. Ministry of Public Health officials have conducted inspections at facilities such as the Jipijapa Basic Hospital and the Rafael Rodríguez Zambrano Hospital in Manta to evaluate laboratory, pharmacy, and surgical capacities. These establishments are required to report progress on infrastructure and equipment improvements within 15 to 21 days.
