Ecuador industrial and energy sector developments

In Ecuador, Grupo Consenso, through its brand Indurama, has completed a technological reconversion of its domestic and commercial refrigeration lines. The company replaced the R-134a refrigerant with natural hydrocarbons that have a lower global warming potential. This transition resulted in the removal of approximately 10,42 metric tons of R-134a from the manufacturing process, which is equivalent to a potential reduction of 14,872 tons of CO2.

Additionally, Indurama reported progress in circular economy practices, noting a 332% increase in managed polystyrene for industrial symbiosis between 2023 and 2025.

In the hydrocarbon sector, Ecuador's oil production is currently around 460,000 barrels per day, with Petroecuador accounting for approximately 365,000 barrels. Recent commercial activities include a USD 1.652 billion contract awarded to Petroperú for the supply of 16.2 million barrels of crude for the Talara refinery. Furthermore, ENAP has announced an operation to acquire Pluspetrol Ecuador for USD 207 million.
