Ecuador launches Yapa Pa tu Casa housing subsidy program
The Ecuadorian government has introduced the ‘Yapa Pa tu Casa’ program, a subsidy designed to bridge the gap for families who do not qualify for free housing but lack the capital for down payments. The program provides a bonus of up to $10,000 for households earning up to 3.5 basic unified salaries (approximately $1,687).
Daniel Elmir, Vice Minister of Housing and Urban Development, stated that the initiative aims to expand housing access to a segment of the population previously in a ‘limbo’ between total subsidies and standard mortgage credits. Beyond individual benefits, the policy is intended to stimulate the construction sector, drive private investment, and create employment through the supply chain.
Real estate developer Ambiensa is participating in the initiative, offering homes priced up to $65,070 and providing advisory services for families applying for the benefit. Eligibility requires that the applicant be purchasing their first home and meet the specified income thresholds.
