Ecuador micro-enterprises drive 75.9% growth in postal imports
Micro-enterprises have become a dominant force in the Ecuadorian economy, accounting for 93% of all active businesses in 2025. According to data from INEC, there are approximately 1.12 million registered businesses in the country.
As these small businesses expand their reach through digital channels and social media, the demand for efficient logistics has increased significantly. Data from the Banco Central del Ecuador shows that imports under the postal and express mail regime rose from USD 556.1 million in 2024 to USD 978.3 million in 2025, representing a growth rate of 75.9%.
María Paulina Romo, President of Grupo Entregas, noted that as businesses expand their markets, logistics transitions from a purely operational matter to a strategic decision for growth, as distribution capabilities can either facilitate or limit new opportunities.
