Ecuador motorcycle market grows 25.4% in 2025
The motorcycle market in Ecuador experienced significant growth in 2025, with 275,011 units sold, marking a 25.4% increase compared to the previous year. According to data from the Asociación de Empresas Automotrices del Ecuador (AEADE), motorcycles have transitioned from leisure items to essential tools for work, education, and daily mobility.
Key drivers for this shift include fuel savings, lower maintenance costs, diverse financing options, and reduced travel times in traffic. The motorcycles are increasingly used by independent workers, small businesses, and in agricultural activities.
Market trends also show a shift in consumer demographics. In the coastal region, studies by IGM Motos indicate that approximately 20% of motorcycles purchased for family use are bought by women, primarily for commuting to work or transporting children. To meet this demand, companies like Grupo Consenso, through IGM Motos, are diversifying their offerings with models ranging from 125 cc to 300 cc, including utility, scooter, and dual-purpose categories.
