Ecuador national team players recognized for academic honors

Several players from the Ecuador national football team, known as La Tri, demonstrated significant academic achievement during their school years before beginning their professional athletic careers.

Alan Franco, a midfielder for Atlético Mineiro, was recognized as a flag bearer (abanderado) during his high school years. Similarly, Pedro Vite, who currently plays for Pumas UNAM, also served as a flag bearer during his studies. Other players noted for their academic distinctions include Piero Hincapié, Joao Rojas, Bryan Cabezas, and Frickson Erazo, who received honors as flag bearers or escorts.

Many of these athletes, including Franco and Vite, developed their early professional skills at the club Independiente del Valle before moving to international leagues in Brazil, Mexico, or the United States.
