Ecuador police and army arrest murder suspect in Bolívar province
Ecuadorian police and the National Armed Forces carried out a joint operation on a checkpoint along the Ambato‑Guaranda road in Bolívar province. Using the mobile SIIPNE 3W system, officers received an alert that led to the identification and detention of 22‑year‑old Jonathan Gualberto A. A., who was subject to an active arrest warrant for alleged murder issued by the Pedernales Criminal Guarantees Court. After confirming his identity, the authorities read him his constitutional rights, transferred him to a health center for a medical evaluation, and then placed him in custody pending further legal proceedings.
The operation was part of broader security measures aimed at preventing illegal transport of firearms, ammunition and explosives, and demonstrates coordination between civilian law‑enforcement and the military in Ecuador.
