Ecuador police and military seize 58 suspects in anti‑crime raids
Ecuador’s security forces carried out two major operations targeting organized crime. In Guayaquil, the Ministry of Defense’s security bloc, together with the National Police, arrested 15 alleged members of the Los Águilas criminal group and confiscated firearms, including rifles, a Glock pistol, and assorted ammunition.
In Quito, the National Police’s “Apolo” operation detained 43 people across the La Delicia and Calderón districts, seized four firearms, 18 bladed weapons, drugs, 68,000 illegal tobacco units and several vehicles and motorcycles, and carried out extensive public‑order checks.
Both actions are part of ongoing national efforts to weaken organized crime networks and improve public security during the holiday period.
