Ecuador President Daniel Noboa's government refutes $2,000 bonus claim and allocates $352,000 to Conocoto rehab center
Fact‑checkers determined that reports claiming the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES) was distributing a $2,000 cash bonus to Ecuadorian citizens are false. The claim, attributed to President Daniel Noboa, cited a statement that “El MIES está dando un bono de hasta USD 2. 000…” but no official announcement exists and the links shared were not from government platforms.
Separately, the Ecuadorian government announced a US$352,000 investment to strengthen the Centro Especializado en Rehabilitación Integral (CERI) in Conocoto, Pichincha. The funding, delivered through the Ministry of Public Health, will upgrade orthotics and prosthetics laboratories, purchase specialized machinery, and acquire bone vibrators for auditory services, aiming to reduce patient wait times and expand care for people from 15 provinces.
