Ecuador receives expelled Los Choneros leader Ronald Macías from Colombia
Migración Colombia carried out an administrative expulsion of Ronald Macías, known as “Javi,” identified by Ecuadorian authorities as a senior figure in the Los Choneros drug‑trafficking organization. Macías, subject to an Interpol Red Notice for homicide, money‑laundering, illicit enrichment and organized crime, was apprehended in Bogotá and handed over to Ecuadorian justice.
Gloria Esperanza Arriero, director general of Migración Colombia, said the action demonstrates close cooperation and information‑sharing between the two countries to block transnational criminal networks. The deportation follows recent expulsions of other Ecuador‑wanted fugitives, including aliases “Fede,” “Lobo Menor,” and “Ruano,” at the Rumichaca border post.
