Ecuador fuel prices to decrease for Extra, Ecopaís, and diesel in September

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa has announced a reduction in fuel prices effective September 12, 2026. This marks the third consecutive month of price decreases for certain fuel types.

Under the new pricing, the Extra and Ecopaís gasoline types will drop by three cents per gallon, moving from $3.242 to $3.212. Premium diesel will also see a three-cent reduction, decreasing from $3.181 to $3.151 per gallon. These adjustments are part of a monthly update system based on international petroleum market fluctuations and a government-applied band system.

In contrast to the decreases in Extra, Ecopaís, and diesel, the price for Super gasoline is projected to rise. While the current suggested price is $4.64 per gallon, industry representatives from the National Chamber of Distributors of Petroleum Derivatives (Camdeppe) estimate it could increase by up to 15 cents, potentially reaching $4.79 per gallon, due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East impacting international oil markers.
