Ecuador strengthens water management and sanitation projects
The Ecuadorian government has issued 2,439 administrative acts to strengthen water resource management and support community boards and municipalities. Between January 1 and August 10, 2026, these measures focused on community governance, including legal status registrations, board updates, and statute reforms. Additionally, 490 authorizations were granted for water use and exploitation to facilitate human consumption and irrigation, benefiting over 291,400 people across 1,281 communities.
In terms of municipal infrastructure, the Executive branch provided 76 technical feasibility studies for water and sanitation projects. These studies are expected to reach an additional 276,012 beneficiaries. Minister of Environment and Energy, Juan Carlos Blum, stated that the government aims to process an additional 1,856 administrative tasks by the end of 2026.
