Ecuadorian actress Azucena Mora dies at 80

Ecuadorian actress Livia Lidia Mora Mendoza, known as Azucena Mora and beloved for her role as Petita Pacheco in the classic TV program “Tal para cual,” died on 14 July 2026 at age 80. Her career spanned more than five decades in theatre and television, including notable performances in productions such as “Los Culpables,” “Por amor propio,” and “La hechicera.”

Mora co‑founded the influential theatre company El Juglar and participated in groups La Mueca and Gestus. She was honored by the Guayas prefecture earlier in 2026 and received a decoration from the Ecuadorian National Assembly in January 2025. Her body will lie in state at the Jardines de Esperanza cemetery, Sala La Piedad, before burial.
