Ecuadorian authorities arrest primary arms supplier for Chone Killers

Ecuadorian security forces have captured an individual known as alias ‘Samir’, identified by Defense Minister Gian Carlo Loffredo as the primary arms supplier for the criminal organization ‘Chone Killers’. The operation was conducted by the Security Block, involving the Armed Forces and the National Intelligence Center (CNI) in the Patria Nueva sector of Daule, Guayas province.

During the arrest, authorities seized a .38 caliber revolver, four rounds of ammunition, 26 packages of an unidentified substance, and 11 envelopes containing suspected cocaine. Military intelligence identifies ‘Samir’ as a logistical provider of weapons, ammunition, and explosives, while also linking him to drug trafficking, extortion, armed robbery, and kidnapping.

Minister Loffredo stated that the arrest leaves the Chone Killers without their main weapons supplier. He noted that ‘Samir’ was a collaborator of alias ‘Pan de Piña’, the suspected leader of the group who was recently taken into custody. The minister emphasized that security forces will continue to target members attempting to fill leadership voids within criminal structures.
