Ecuadorian prosecutors secure multiple convictions on appeal
The Ecuadorian Prosecutor General's Office has secured several significant convictions through appeals in the Chimborazo and Morona Santiago provinces.
In Chimborazo, the Provincial Court overturned an acquittal to sentence Darío Fabián A. A. to 29 years in prison for the sexual assault of an 82-year-old woman in Guano. Additionally, the court upheld a 19-year sentence for Ricardo Fabricio S. R. for large-scale drug trafficking involving cocaine, marijuana, and amphetamines following an arrest in Riobamba.
In Morona Santiago, the court sentenced Andy Jaren S. to 19 years in prison for the rape of a teenager in Limón Indanza, ordering him to pay $3,000 in reparations. Furthermore, a five-year sentence was upheld for Irving Rodolfo T. M. for real estate fraud involving a $5,000 advance payment taken under false pretenses.
