Ecuadorian Firefighter Edison Baque Honored in Quevedo Funeral
Firefighter Edison Rodolfo Baque Moreno, 25, was laid to rest in Quevedo, Ecuador, after dying from injuries sustained in a traffic accident on the Quevedo‑San Carlos ring road. The accident, which occurred on a rain‑flooded stretch of the highway, involved a stalled vehicle and a high‑speed collision that killed a woman and left Baque critically injured. He was first taken to a local hospital and later transferred to Guayaquil, where he passed away on July 28.
A motorcade of fire trucks formed a water arch as the Benemérito Cuerpo de Bomberos de Quevedo escorted his remains to a chapel at the fire department headquarters. Family, friends and community members gathered for a vigil before the body was moved to his hometown parish of San Carlos for a final farewell.
