LigaPro reschedules LDU vs. Barcelona SC match to save energy

LigaPro has announced a schedule change for the upcoming match between Liga de Quito and Barcelona SC to support national energy conservation efforts in Ecuador. The match, originally set for October 11 at 18:30, will now take place at 16:30.

Miguel Ángel Loor, president of LigaPro, stated that the decision was made voluntarily to utilize natural light and reduce electricity consumption. This move responds to government requests for energy savings due to low water levels in hydroelectric reservoirs, a situation exacerbated by the El Niño phenomenon. Loor noted that the football organization aims to contribute to national awareness regarding responsible energy use. Additional match schedules for the current round are expected to be announced in the coming days.
