Ecuadorian Footballers Kick Off 2026‑27 European Season, Pacho Features in Super Cup
The 2026‑27 European football calendar opens in August with several Ecuadorian players joining clubs across the continent. Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League starts on 7 August, featuring Kevin Rodríguez (Union Saint‑Gilloise), Joel Ordóñez (Club Brujas), Yaimar Medina (Genk) and Anthony Valencia (Royal Antwerp). The Premier League begins on 21 August, where Moisés Caicedo will line up for Chelsea, Piero Hincapié for Arsenal, Nilson Angulo for Sunderland and Nil Plata for a new side. Italy’s Serie A kicks off on 22 August with Pervis Estupiñán at AC Milan, John Yeboah at Venezia and Kevin Varas at Padova.
Meanwhile, the UEFA Super Cup will be staged on 12 August 2026 at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, Austria, pitting Champions League winners Paris Saint‑Germain against Europa League champions Aston Villa. Ecuadorian defender Willian Pacho, who joined PSG in 2024, is expected to start for the French side in the season‑opening match.
These fixtures mark the start of a new campaign for the Ecuadorian contingent, many of whom appeared in the 2026 World Cup and now seek to establish themselves in Europe’s top leagues.
