Ecuadorian gang chief ‘Javi’ expelled from Colombia, handed to authorities in Ecuador

Ronald Javier Macías Villamar, known as alias ‘Javi’ and brother of Los Choneros leader ‘Fito’, was arrested in Bogotá in mid‑June 2026. He was listed on an Interpol Red Notice for homicide, money‑laundering, illicit enrichment and organized‑crime offences.

Colombia’s Migration agency processed an administrative expulsion, coordinating with Ecuadorian authorities and intelligence services. The operation resulted in his transfer to Ecuador, where Interior Minister John Reimberg confirmed he would be taken to the high‑security “Encuentro” prison to face justice. The capture is presented as a blow to the transnational criminal network.
