Ecuadorian Judiciary Council Enhances Document Management in Manabí and Imbabura

The Provincial Directorate of the Council of the Judiciary (CJ) in Manabí began moving more than 11,000 boxes containing over 50,000 judicial files to a new 787.5 m² archive. The space, larger than the former 473 m² facility, includes 270 metal shelves and an emergency generator to ensure continuity. The relocation, scheduled for 15‑26 July, will centralise civil, labour, family, contentious, criminal and administrative records, improving preservation and user access. Teddy Ponce, interim provincial director, said the new archive will allow faster response to citizens’ needs.

In Imbabura, CJ officials carried out a technical inspection of administrative and jurisdictional archives, checking compliance with the archival protocol and providing staff training on document handling, electronic management tools and protocol application. Jaime Alvear, interim provincial director, highlighted that such visits and trainings strengthen staff knowledge, promote efficient and transparent processes, and benefit the public.
