Operation Águila Alta concludes with five drones neutralized on US-Mexico border
Mexico and the United States have concluded the binational Operation Águila Alta, conducted in the Tijuana-San Diego border region. The operation aimed to inhibit the use of commercial drones by organized crime for drug and human trafficking.
The Mexican Army reported neutralizing five commercial drones during the mission. One of these drones was initially detected on the U.S. side before entering Mexican territory, where it was neutralized following information exchange with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
In addition to the drones, authorities detained one individual and seized a firearm, magazines, and cartridges. The operation, which included a coordination phase starting August 31 and an active phase from September 7 to September 21, utilized approximately 800 military personnel and anti-drone technology capable of jamming signals within a three-kilometer radius.
