Ecuadorian National Assembly inaugurates legislative house in Riobamba

The National Assembly of Ecuador has officially inaugurated the Casa Legislativa Chimborazo in Riobamba. Led by Assembly President Michelle Mancheno, the initiative aims to decentralize parliamentary management and bring legislative processes, such as oversight and lawmaking, closer to the local population.

The new facility will serve as a permanent meeting point for citizens, including youth, seniors, and productive sectors, to discuss legal projects and participate in parliamentary simulations. It will also facilitate the territorial socialization of priority regulations, including anti-mafia legislation.

In conjunction with this opening, the Assembly held commemorative acts for the Foundation Day of Ecuador in Riobamba. The agenda included a solemn session, floral offerings, and historical representations. During the proceedings, President Mancheno reported on the first year of the legislative term, noting 143 plenary sessions, 285 law projects qualified, and 24 laws published in the Official Registry.

The legislative presence in Riobamba also involved several key commissions meeting at the Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo (ESPOCH) to discuss security, economic regimes, labor rights, food sovereignty, and economic development.
