Argentina authorities investigate two fatal hunting shootings
Authorities in Argentina are investigating two separate fatal shooting incidents involving young men during hunting activities in the Entre Ríos province.
In San Jaime de la Frontera, 22-year-old Gabriel Martínez died after being struck by a shot while hunting in a rural area near the San José de los Ombúes estate. Witnesses reported that a modified air rifle, capable of using .22 caliber ammunition, was found near the body. Three men aged 42 to 43, who were accompanying the victim, stated the discharge was accidental when the weapon was placed on the ground.
In a separate incident in Presidencia de la Plaza, 19-year-old Matías Exequiel Soto died after receiving a shot to the chest near the El Sol estate. His companion, Leonardo Germán García, was detained by police. García claimed the shooting occurred accidentally during their hunting trip. The judiciary has classified the case as a “suspected homicide” while forensic experts work to determine the exact circumstances of the death.
