Ecuadorian police arrest six in Esmeraldas extortion raids

Ecuadorian National Police, in coordination with the State Attorney General's Office, conducted several raids in the Esmeraldas and Quinindé cantons of the Esmeraldas province. The operations resulted in the arrest of six individuals linked to three separate investigations regarding alleged extortion.

Investigators report that the suspects demanded money from victims through threats against their personal safety and their families. During the simultaneous operations, authorities seized seven mobile devices, one firearm, and one motorcycle as evidence. The detainees have been placed at the disposal of the competent authorities.
