Ecuadorian producers receive technical training in sustainable farming
Agricultural training programs in Ecuador are providing technical expertise to small and medium-sized producers to improve sustainability and productivity.
In Cotopaxi, the PROFOSPE project, supported by the Ministry of Economic Development and Productive, has graduated 186 producers from five cantons. The five-month training program covered regenerative livestock farming, animal health, reproduction, environmental responsibility, and market access. These training schools function as demonstration units where participants apply new techniques directly to their farms.
In Manabí, the Prefectura de Manabí, in collaboration with ESPAM MFL, INIAP, and the German Cooperation (GIZ), conducted field days for 128 producers from Junín, Chone, Bolívar, and Tosagua. The technical sessions focused on the role of pollinators, sustainable production free of deforestation, soil studies, and interpreting soil analysis results to improve local farming practices.
