Ecuadorian professionals face major labor market shifts by 2030
Ecuador faces significant shifts in its labor market as global professional requirements evolve. According to a World Economic Forum report, 39% of currently valued skills are expected to transform by 2030. While the shift is projected to create 170 million jobs, it will also displace 92 million others.
To maintain competitiveness, 85% of companies intend to focus on continuous training. Data from ManpowerGroup indicates that upskilling and reskilling are the primary methods used to address talent shortages, surpassing salary increases or increased flexibility. To support this transition, the International Organization of Youth for Ibero-America (OIJ) has partnered with the International University of Valencia (VIU) to offer an international scholarship program for Ecuadorian professionals in science, technology, and business fields.
