Ecuadorian rider Richard Carapaz rises to 12th in Tour de France after stage 2‑3 performances
Ecuadorian cyclist Richard Carapaz (EF Education‑EasyPost) moved up 16 places to 19th overall after the second stage of the 2026 Tour de France, finishing 1 minute 43 seconds behind race leader Jonas Vingegaard.
In the third stage, a mountainous finish in Les Angles, Carapaz placed third on the day, four seconds behind winner Tadej Pogacar and second‑placed Vingegaard. The result lifted him to 12th place in the general classification, 1 minute 45 seconds off the yellow‑mailed leader. Fellow Ecuadorian Jefferson Cepeda also improved his standing, climbing to 88th overall.
The stages featured victories by Pogacar (stage 3) and Mexican Isaac del Toro (stage 2), with the overall lead held by Vingegaard after stage 2 and taken by Pogacar after stage 3.
