Ecuadorian schools hold ceremonies to honor academic excellence

Educational institutions in Ecuador held ceremonies to recognize academic excellence through the designation of flag bearers and escorts.

At the Unidad Educativa San José de la Beneficencia in Guayaquil, approximately 32 students with previously incomplete schooling participated in the 'Juramento a la Bandera' ceremony. Among them were Luis Alfredo Almeida, 53, who was named flag bearer, Carmen, 36, and José Luis, 44, who served as escorts. These students had interrupted their studies decades earlier to enter the workforce. Almeida, who began working at age 8 to support his family, returned to studies three years ago through the institution's distance education program.

Similarly, the Unidad Educativa Francisco de Orellana held a ceremony to honor students for their academic performance, discipline, and responsibility. Melany Mishell Castelo Mosquera was designated as the flag bearer for the National Pavilion. Other honors included the designation of provincial and institutional flag bearers, as well as specialized recognition for top students in fields such as Electrical Installations, Sciences, Automotive Electromechanics, and Metalworking.
