Ecuadorian security forces arrest suspected gang members in Quito and Santo Domingo

Ecuadorian security forces have conducted separate operations resulting in the arrest of suspected members of organized crime groups in Quito and Santo Domingo.

In Quito, the National Police executed ‘Operación Estratégica 3D’ in the Monjas sector, apprehending ten individuals. Authorities allege these suspects, several of whom are Venezuelan nationals, were working with the organized armed group ‘Los Lobos’. The group is suspected of involvement in robbery and extortion, reportedly using stolen vehicles and digital transport platforms to contact victims. Police seized two firearms and 22 cartridges during the operation.

In Santo Domingo, the Ecuadorian Army conducted a military operation in the Ramia sector of La Pavia. The operation led to the arrest of José Fernando M., known as ‘alias Pepe’, identified as a high-value target and alleged member of the criminal group ‘Los R’. During a residence search, military personnel seized a Glock 9mm pistol, a .38 caliber revolver, 40 rounds of ammunition, three magazines, mobile devices, a computer, and various weapons including machetes and knives. Authorities also recovered two uniforms resembling those used by military and police personnel.
