Ecuadorian SRI extinguishes over 3,000 tax debts

The Ecuadorian Internal Revenue Service (SRI) has extinguished more than 3,000 tax debts across eight provinces. These obligations, which amounted to no more than one unified basic salary, were cleared due to the legal expiration of the statute of limitations.

According to Santiago Andrade, former director of the entity, taxpayers affected by this measure do not need to perform any additional administrative procedures. The SRI has directed that these extinguished debts be removed from its systems to clean its portfolio of obligations that no longer meet legal collection conditions. Affected individuals can verify their status by consulting the Tax Gazette (Gaceta Tributaria) included in the official resolution.
