Ecuadorian universities placed in QS World University Rankings 2027

Six Ecuadorian universities appear in the QS World University Rankings 2027. The Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) moved up to the 771‑780 band, while the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) and Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES) entered the 901‑950 band, both improving from the previous 951‑1000 range. The Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE) remained in the 1001‑1200 band, the Universidad de Las Américas (UDLA) stayed in the 1201‑1400 band, and the Escuela Politécnica Nacional (EPN) continued in the 1401+ band.

The QS ranking evaluates institutions using a mix of quantitative and qualitative indicators, including academic reputation, employer perception, research citations, internationalisation, faculty‑student ratios and graduate outcomes. Analysts note that the ranking should be viewed as a comparative measurement tool rather than an absolute judgment of educational quality. None of the Ecuadorian universities rank among the top ten in Latin America according to this edition.
