Ecuador's CNE convenes provincial consultative councils in Los Ríos and Chimborazo

On 30 July 2026, Ecuador’s National Electoral Council (CNE) held provincial consultative councils in Los Ríos and Chimborazo. In Los Ríos, representatives of 16 political organisations gathered to receive briefing on candidate registration, electoral propaganda, campaign‑spending rules and measures to prevent gender‑based political violence ahead of the 2027 sectional and CPCCS elections. The meeting provided a structured dialogue for parties to raise questions and obtain direct answers from CNE technical staff.

In Chimborazo, the council followed a similar agenda, informing provincial parties about the technical, administrative and legal aspects of the forthcoming elections scheduled for 29 November 2026. Topics included candidacy filing procedures, control of electoral expenses, propaganda regulations and compliance with the electoral calendar. Both sessions aimed to strengthen coordination between the electoral authority and political actors, ensuring transparency and legal compliance in the upcoming electoral process.
