Ecumenical church projects in Germany
In Schwerte, Protestant and Catholic pastoral teams are collaborating on a new ecumenical project for the ‘Bürger für Bürger’ Christmas market. The initiative includes a ‘living nativity scene’ that will move through the market, alongside an open dialogue and blessing station hosted by the Protestant youth group. The project aims to make the Christian message tangible and demonstrate the church's presence within the community.
Separately, the Protestant and Catholic churches have concluded their participation in the Landesgartenschau in Bad Nenndorf. The church tent served as a center for community engagement, featuring activities such as gemstone searching, a blessing tree where hundreds of hearts were attached, and a blessing machine that distributed 6,300 ribbons. The event included 173 midday prayers, 26 services on the main stage, 12 weddings, and 28 baptisms, supported by 200 daily volunteers.
