Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew honored at London event

Approximately 1,000 clergy, faithful, and guests from across the United Kingdom attended a patriarchal event at the London Hilton on Park Lane on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. The gathering was held in honor of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew during his visit to the Holy Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain.

The event coincided with the feast day of Saint Niketas the Great Martyr and the name day of Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain. In his address, Archbishop Nikitas noted the growth and revitalization of the Orthodox presence in the British Isles, highlighting an increasing number of people discovering and embracing the Orthodox faith. He also mentioned the recently renovated chapel at the Archdiocese offices, which features icons of saints from the British Isles to represent the deep roots of Orthodoxy in the region.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expressed his affection for the clergy and faithful of the Archdiocese and shared his satisfaction with the work being carried out under Archbishop Nikitas's leadership, noting the flourishing of Orthodox life in the United Kingdom. The program included a musical performance by Greek singer Kaiti Koullia.
