Ed Brubaker and Amazon MGM sued over alleged harassment on ‘Criminal’ set

Ijaaz Noohu, a former production assistant, has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against showrunner Ed Brubaker, Amazon MGM Studios, and Big Indie Pictures. The suit alleges a hostile work environment during the production of the upcoming Amazon series ‘Criminal’.

The complaint includes 12 causes of action, including sexual and racial harassment, religious discrimination, assault, battery, and retaliation. Noohu, a Sri Lankan American, alleges he was subjected to demeaning ethnic stereotypes and intrusive questions regarding his religious beliefs.

One of the most serious allegations in the suit claims that Brubaker pointed a functional firearm at Noohu’s face and pulled the trigger, an incident reportedly witnessed by a senior producer. The lawsuit also names executive producer Phillip Barnett, alleging he enabled the misconduct by instructing staff to avoid documenting complaints. Noohu claims he was retaliated against and removed from the production after seeking a promotion.
