Ed Dowd warns of massive AI market bubble

Financial analyst Ed Dowd of Phinance Technologies has characterized the current artificial intelligence market as the ‘greatest bubble of all time.’ Comparing the current landscape to the dot-com bubble, Dowd suggests that the AI sector is showing similar warning signs, though he believes the current situation may be even more severe.

Dowd cites several factors that could lead to a market unwind, including insufficient power supply to support data center requirements and the high cost of capital. He notes that the massive amount of capital required for AI could compete with government debt, creating a crowding-out effect and potentially leading to bankruptcies.

Former Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein has also expressed concerns regarding the concentration of risk within the AI trade. Dowd indicated that a market correction of 40% to 50% would not be surprising as the bubble reaches its end game.
