Ed Harris Remains on Dutton Ranch as Season 2 Plans Unfold

Actor Ed Harris publicly complained that his role as Everett McKinney in the Paramount+ series Dutton Ranch was "underused and inconsequential," even threatening to quit during a July 2026 interview with Variety. Harris said he was misled about being one of the four main characters and recounted telling producers, “Get me the f‑ck out of here.”

The backlash coincided with the removal of the show's original showrunner, Chad Feehan. Production sources say Benjamin Cavell, creator of SEAL Team, has been installed as the new showrunner. After the behind‑the‑scenes shake‑up, Harris has been confirmed to return for Season 2 with a significantly expanded storyline. Filming is slated to begin on January 15, and the second season is expected to air in late 2027.
