Brazilian musician, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Ed Motta has released "Toc-Toc," the second single from his upcoming eponymous album. The release marks his first studio album recorded in Portuguese in 13 years.
Scheduled for release on September 25, the project follows several English-language albums, including "Behind the Tea Chronicles" (2023). "Toc-Toc" is characterized by its roots in 1970s and 1980s American soul and funk, citing James Brown as a primary influence in its arrangement and rhythmic pulse.
Ed Motta performed the vocals and guitar on the track, while Michel Limma handled the remaining instrumentation and co-produced the album. The new work is expected to feature a variety of musical styles, including electro-funk, bossa nova, and ballads, aiming for an organic sound consistent with classic funk recordings.
