Edappadi K. Palaniswami criticizes TVK government over water and farmer welfare
AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has criticized the TVK government regarding its first 100 days in office, specifically citing failures in farmer welfare and water management.
Palaniswami alleged that the government has failed to secure the necessary Cauvery water share for Tamil Nadu, noting that the state did not receive required water volumes in June and July. He highlighted the plight of delta farmers who lost Kuruvai crops due to the lack of water from Mettur and insufficient power supply for borewells. He demanded that the state government conduct crop loss assessments and provide proper compensation to affected farmers.
Furthermore, Palaniswami accused the administration of focusing on social media presence rather than substantive policy, claiming existing schemes from previous governments are being rebranded with a ‘Vettri’ tag instead of introducing new initiatives. He also called for an all-party meeting to address the Cauvery issue and the proposed Mekedatu dam, while raising concerns over rising rice prices and the circulation of narcotic substances in the state.
