China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) has secured a contract valued at over $40 million to construct the Pingue Dam. This infrastructure project is a joint initiative between Mozambique and Eswatini, designed to support the Lomahasha-Namaacha water supply project.
The dam, located on Mozambican territory, will have a storage capacity of 13 million cubic metres. It is intended to serve the town of Namaacha in Mozambique's Maputo province and the community of Lomahasha in Eswatini.
Officials from both nations described the agreement as a landmark in diplomatic relations and a testament to mutual trust and shared progress within the framework of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
